Thank you everyone who answered our earlier question about advanced damage repair. You were all kind of right actually! At this stage of damage, and especially if "la premiere" (the insole base of the shoe) is in bad condition, we usually advise to pick a new pair. Having said this, goodyear welted shoes are pretty much always fixable, and since this pair of shoes had an emotional value to his wearer, we did end up repairing it upon his request.
