Today we are reviewing different shoe construction types. In Goodyear-welted shoes the upper is sewn onto a new ridge of leather, before both parts are binded to the sole by another stitching line. Goodyear welted construction makes the shoe more robust, as well as easier and quicker to resole, virtually timeless. In Blake construction, the shoe’s upper is folded over and sewn directly onto the sole. Esthetically, Blake shoes generally look slender and sleeker, but they are also more delicate and more complicated to resole.
